You are in flexion when you are sitting, especially, if you lean forward. This is important because extension is then needed to balance your body.
Consider if you are in flexion for 8 hours a day. What is happening?
Your chest is tight from rounding forward. This simultaneously overstretches the shoulders and back- weakening the muscles and deactivating them.
Similarly, your midsection is often remains contracted, as do the tops of the front of your legs. the flexors.
Basically, the whole front of your body is overly tight and remains in this tense, tight position for hours daily.
This results in the back of your body, to include especially your glutes (butt) and back to be deactivated and not working.
Know that feeling when you stand up and it feels like your back can't support the movement and you feel a twinge of pain?
This is muscle Imbalance caused by hours, days, years of the same routine with no effort to balance it. Ultimately, this produces discomfort - then, pain. And, it can lead to structural change aka forward neck, rounded shoulders, hunched back, etc.
